July 18, 2025 – Reinforcing their continued commitment to women’s health and early cancer detection, The Medical City and AIA Philippines have renewed their Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the continued rollout of the Hope Mobi-Clinic, a mobile breast cancer screening program designed to reach underserved communities across Metro Manila.
The signing ceremony was held at The Medical City (TMC), Ortigas, Pasig City, led by Dr. Ruben G. Kasala, EVP and CEO of TMC Ortigas, and Ms. Melissa Henson, Chief Marketing Officer of AIA Philippines. The program continues with the support of SCRAP (Screen and Prevent) Cancer Program Director, Dr. Beatrice J. Tiangco, and Akbay Ginhawa Foundation Inc. President, Dr. Rafael S. Claudio, key partners in bringing accessible healthcare services to women in need.

Now on its second roll-out, the clinic-on- wheels will extend its services to other cities in Metro Manila, following the successful leg in San Juan and Pasig. This time, the program aims to provide accessible, early detection services to 1000 women, particularly those aged 50 and above, who often face barriers to regular health screenings.

“I’m glad that we are now focusing more on early detection of cancer,” said Dr. Ruben G. Kasala, TMC Ortigas EVP and CEO.

“Survival rates increase, and the cost of care is reduced once you diagnose cancer early. It’s good that this partnership continues, and I’m looking forward to expanding to more areas. Many Filipinos cannot afford early cancer screening, and it’s our responsibility to make these services accessible because healthcare is a human right.”

The Hope Mobi-Clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art digital mammography and staffed by expert medical professionals from TMC. Beyond screenings, the clinic provides on-site education on breast cancer awareness and prevention, empowering women to take proactive steps in managing their health.

In cases where malignant tumors are detected, The Medical City and AIA Philippines remain committed to providing full medical support, ensuring patients receive not only a diagnosis but also the care and treatment they need to survive and recover.

Breast cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in the Philippines, but with early detection and timely treatment, the chance of survival increases significantly. Since its launch, the Hope Mobi-Clinic has continued to bring healthcare where it is needed the most, to underserved communities with limited access to diagnostic services.

By breaking down barriers to access, TMC, AIA Philippines, SCRAP Cancer Program, and Akbay Ginhawa continue to demonstrate that early detection is the key and that no one should be left behind in the fight against breast cancer.
